The most forgiving canvas of the three. An uninterrupted front panel gives a full-size chest graphic somewhere to live, and the hood and pouch pocket give you the silhouette most people picture when they say "hoodie." If you aren't sure, this is the safe pick.

Staff, layering, left-chest branding
A zipper splits the front panel, so a large front graphic takes more planning here than on a pullover. Our DTG printer can run across a zipper, and designs that cross it get reviewed and approved before we print - screen printing is the pickier one, and its cleanest result stays off the hardware. What a full-zip does well is wear like a light jacket: easy on and off over a uniform shirt, and a natural home for a left-chest logo, a sleeve hit, or a back print.

Why fleece decorates differently than a t-shirt
A hoodie isn't just a heavier t-shirt. The surface is raised and slightly textured, and the fabric is usually a cotton/poly blend rather than pure cotton. Both change what we recommend.
Screen printing: go bold
Ink lands on a raised, slightly fuzzy surface instead of a smooth one, so solid shapes, heavy lines, and confident type hold up better than hairline detail or very small text. Big athletic-style prints are what fleece is built for.

Thicker fabric supports stitching well, which is part of why embroidered hoodies and sweatshirts are so common for staff and outerwear branding. Left chest is the standard placement. We digitize your logo into a stitch file first, and you approve it before it runs.

Most sweatshirt fleece is a cotton/polyester blend, and DTF transfers were made to cross fabric types. That makes DTF the practical pick for full-color artwork, smaller runs, or an order mixing hoodies with other garments.

We can run DTG on hoodies - it just takes extra care, since the printer does its best work on smooth, cotton-heavy surfaces. For most fleece jobs screen printing, DTF, or embroidery will serve you better, and we'll tell you which one suits your artwork.

Where the art can go on a hoodie
A tee is basically a blank rectangle. A sweatshirt has a hood, a drawcord, a pouch pocket, and sometimes a zipper - and each one takes real estate away from your design. Worth knowing before you draw it.
Left chest
The safest placement on any body style, and the largest front option a full-zip gives you. Reads as branding rather than merch, and it's what embroidery was made for.
Full front
Pullovers and crewnecks only. On a pullover the pouch pocket sets the floor: artwork has to finish above where the pocket starts, so tall designs get scaled down or shifted up.
Back
The biggest uninterrupted area on a sweatshirt. Good for a large graphic, an event or roster list, or a sponsor block, and it pairs naturally with a small left-chest mark.
Sleeve
A narrow vertical hit down the arm - one of the few placements that behaves the same on all three body styles, which helps when an order mixes them.
Hood
Possible, but a hood is a curved double layer with a drawcord through it. Keep anything there small and simple, and let us confirm it against your garment first.

Weight, style & decoration, in plain English
Weight is the comfort lever
Midweight fleece (roughly 8 oz) is the everyday standard - warm without bulk. Heavyweight (10 oz and up) drapes heavier and feels premium. Lightweight suits mild days and layering.
Cotton, polyester, and why it matters
Most sweatshirt fleece is a cotton/polyester blend. The cotton side is where the soft hand comes from and it takes ink readily; the polyester side keeps the garment closer to its original size and shape after a lot of washes.
Sweatshirts wear roomier
Fleece is cut to layer over something, so it wears bigger than a tee in the same nominal size, and heavyweight feels bigger still. Ordering off a size chart? Expect a few people to size down. Women's, youth, and tall cuts fill the gaps a straight adult run leaves.
Care that protects the decoration
Wash inside out in cold water, skip bleach and harsh chemicals, and tumble dry low or hang dry. Heat is what shortens the life of a print or a stitch-out, not washing.
Deadlines
Planning the timeline on a sweatshirt order
Standard production is 9 to 11 business days for local pickup and 9 to 14 shipped, counted from the point your order is production ready - artwork, details, payment, and approvals all in. Qualifying orders can select a guaranteed rush at checkout, as fast as 3 business days for pickup or 4 shipped.
One note specific to this page: our same-day Super Rush program is a tee program, not a fleece one. If you need sweatshirts on a very short clock, call us before you order and we'll tell you what is actually possible instead of guessing.
Two things move a fleece timeline more than a tee timeline. Blank availability is one: if a color or a run of larger sizes is short at the supplier, that shifts the date. Decoration type is the other, since a stitched logo takes machine time on every piece in a way a screen print does not.

Common questions about custom hoodies
Do custom hoodies have minimum order quantities?
Most hoodie styles ordered through Koala-Tees have no minimum - order one or outfit the whole crew. Customer-supplied garments run as contract work with a 36-piece minimum for printing and 24 for embroidery.
Should I pick midweight or heavyweight fleece?
Midweight (roughly 8 oz) is the safe everyday call - warm, affordable, and easy to wear most of the year. Go heavyweight (10 oz+) when you want that premium, structured feel or the hoodie will live outdoors. When in doubt, tell us how it'll be used and we'll point you right, or give us a call.
Can you print on zip-up hoodies?
Yes, and we can go across the zipper too - our DTG printer runs over zippers, pockets, and seams without trouble. Screen printing is the pickier one: the cleanest screen-printed result on a full-zip is a left-chest hit that stays off the hardware, and true edge-to-edge artwork spanning a zipper is really a cut-and-sew job. Any design that crosses the zipper gets reviewed and approved before we run it, so send it over and we'll tell you exactly how it will come out. Full-zips also take embroidery beautifully, and a pullover is still the biggest uninterrupted canvas for a large front graphic.
Which decoration method is best for hoodies?
Screen printing wins for bold art and bigger runs, DTF handles full-color detail across fleece blends, and embroidery gives a left-chest logo a premium stitched finish on the heavier fabric. Our methods comparison covers all four honestly.
How fast can I get custom hoodies?

Hoodies or crewnecks for a team order?
Hoodies win when the group will wear them outdoors in the cold or wants the merch look. Crewnecks win when the design is large and centered, or when you want the most retail-looking finish. There's also no rule against offering both and letting people pick.
Can you print on the hood or over the pocket?

Can we mix sizes, colors, and body styles in one order?
Usually, yes - sizes across the range, including women's, youth, and tall where the style offers them. Two things to flag with us up front: very different garment colors can change how the ink has to be built up, and a full-front design sized for a crewneck may need resizing for a pullover pocket.
